Medical School Facility: Hazardous Materials Management

A large medical school facility in Massachusetts asked GeoInsight to assist them in the development of their hazardous materials management program and initiation of a materials inventory program. GeoInsight implemented a laboratory pilot test inventory of more than 500 chemicals to determine data collection requirements, timing, and inventory database management capabilities. After completing the pilot study, GeoInsight was asked to complete the inventory and database management support for the remainder of the facility.

The inventory activities were conducted to meet requirements for the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agency, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, regulated by community right-to-know laws, building and fire codes, and emergency preparedness requirements.
