Manufacturing Facility: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Compliance Support

What does a facility do when the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Protection (NHDEP) determines that the wastewater they generate is a listed hazardous waste and can no longer be handled as non-regulated? This facility called GeoInsight to assist with both regulatory and enforcement implications of the state’s determination, and to identify options to better manage the waste.

GeoInsight completed an evaluation of treatment alternatives to evaporate/condense the waste and identified several technologies that would provide the facility with a cost savings of more than $75,000 per year. GeoInsight guided the facility through bench scale and pilot scale testing of the new treatment technology and the permitting process. In addition, GeoInsight assisted the facility with developing programs to comply with the RCRA storage, labeling, inspection, training, and contingency planning requirements.
