Private University and Preparatory School: Air Quality
GeoInsight provides strategic air quality and air compliance support to a major private university, helping them to maintain compliance with the operation of a major stationary source in Connecticut. The university owns and operates an over 200 acre campus located in a suburban setting, with over 4,700 students. The school is located in a severe non-attainment area with the lowest major source thresholds. GeoInsight has a long history of working with the university to provided environmental air compliance reporting, permitting, assessment, stack testing and compliance assistance.
Key Projects Include:
- Obtaining Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection New Source Review (NSR) Operating Permit for 4.6 MW cogeneration turbine including required emissions calculations, permit application and agency interaction
- Assistance with air regulatory requests and agency inspections
- Preparation of a Pre-Inspection Questionnaire (PIQ)
- Review of greenhouse gas reporting through the ACUPCC (American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment) which included review of calculations for facility emissions and reductions
- Preparation of a General Permit to Limit the Potential to Emit (GPLPE) registration including calculation of campus emissions
- Air permit record keeping including fuel use and emission sources and annual calculation
- Management of on-site emissions testing program for stack testing of CHP turbine including providing state approved emissions testing and reporting of results
