GeoInsight was hired by a Connecticut manufacturing facility to develop their Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan for the storage of petroleum and petroleum products.
The facility operates several above ground storage tanks to support their manufacturing process as well as a 17,000 gallon oil filtration system. As a result, they were required to develop and implement a SPCC because the aggregate above ground storage capacity at the facility was greater than 1,320 gallons of oil and a spill at the facility could reasonably be expected to reach navigable waters of the United States (i.e., via storm drains or direct discharge). GeoInsight viewed the current oil storage and transfer areas, containment systems, waste storage areas, storm water drainage system, and piping and developed a written spill control plan and certification.
